The fitness industry's biggest question

This is the question that makes or breaks you, your trainer, and the gym that you go to. And it is the broadest question you could ask in this industry…

That question is: “What type of workout should you be doing?”

With all of the different types of training styles, Zumba, yoga, the group classes, the cycling classes, how do you know which one is the right choice for you?

Short and simple, it really just depends on your goal. What is it that you want to achieve with your training? Once you know what your goal is, you can pick what style of training would help you attain that goal.

If you goal is to just be active, any of the options listed above meet the requirements of your goal, but if you really want to utilize your resources and take your body condition to the next level, meaning building lean muscle or shredding fat, I recommend incorporating weights/ resistance training.

Great, so now that you know you need to be hitting the weight room, how do you know what your workouts should look like?

That’s where I come in and make the answer to that question super simple to find.

For Strength: I recommend hitting 4-5 working sets of a heavier weight with a target rep range of 6-10 reps, and a 1-3 minute rest between your heavier sets to allow you body to recover.

For Fat Loss: I recommend doing 3 to 4 sets of 10-15 reps with a moderately heavy weight, and 30-45 second rest periods between your sets to keep your heart rate up to be burning fat.

The best way to ensure that you are getting the most out of your training sessions is to make sure that your form is correct and that your mind is connected to your goal, meaning be effective when you are training. Don’t do anything halfway, put effort into your goals and get after it!

Everybody is different and to each is own. The workout style that works for you might not work to the person next to you, everyone has to test and develop different training styles to find what works best for them.
